Project: HEC Sveta Petka, FYR Macedonia
Investor: RIKO, Ljubljana, Slovenia
Works: Fixing the water penetration in the concrete gravity arch dam
Condition of the structure: Concrete arch dam, h=64m, d=2,0-10,0m; visible leaks in joint areas of the concrete segments and expansion joints.
The process of restoration: Implementation of the Euras Gel Type B enabled us to, on the principle of hydraulics, inject the material in the regime of high pressure (up to 200 bars), and entering into water courses in the area of concrete segments joints, using the present water as vectors of movement of gel, permanently suppress it and prevent it’s return. On this occasion, during the gel injection it created a 17 micron space needed for the injection in the working coupling within a millisecond. This effect is possible because the gel particles are 3 microns in size, far smaller than any known sealing materials that are in use now.
Over 2500 kgs of Euras gel was incorporated. It also shows a fact that in a seemingly quality concrete construction there are cavities filled with water in structures that were exposed to extreme impacts during construction and exploitation.
